Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 in 1980) is an American actress, singer and dancer. She began her Broadway career in musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde, and Hair. She was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in the Play for playing Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford has spent the majority of her career collaborating with acclaimed directors and actors across stage film and television and she continues that award-winning project with various upcoming ones. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford has been working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. In the form of a Hulu Original, the film will be available on Disney Digital Television's channels. In March of 2023 Ashford returns to Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The group behind Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the helm of the show. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters in the first impeachment proceedings in America for more than a century. For two seasons, she was the main character of CBS's hit series B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie on You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are amongst her additional Broadway performances. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver & raised there.
